Things To Do

Sailing

As one of the best sailing areas in the country, the Norfolk Broads is suitable for both the novice and expert.

Ferry Marina has direct access to the River Bure and the wider broads network. There is a public slipway in the village or a number of boat yards in the village who can help with launching.

For yacht hire there is Eastwood Whelpton at Upton who offer yachts and day sailers for hire or Hunters Fleet at Ludham (5 minutes way by car) for traditional day sailers and yachts. There are a number of other yards that offer day sailing craft from various locations throughout the broads

Martham Boats at Martham offer traditional broads day boats for sailors as do the famous Hunter Fleet which is just down the road from us at Ludham.

Walking & Cycling

The Norfolk Broads, is known for the many lovely walking routes crisscrossing the area.

From our houses, take your pick from short strolls accross the fields to day-long hikes. There are accessible routes as well as more challenging trails

Walking these routes offers a fantastic opportunity to see the local landscape and wildlife up close and without interuption.

There are over 190 miles of footpaths and nature trails within the Norfolk Broads National Park.

More information about walking and cycling routes in the area can be found on Norfolk Council’s website

Fishing

One of the best fishing spots. Surrounded by water, Waterside Lodge offers great fishing.

One of our guests caught a Pike weighing in at weighed 25lb 14I. while fishing off the decking over Christmas.

What a Christmas Present and what better way than to spend Christmas Day!

Situated in within the highly regarded Ferry Marina Complex our end of terrace cottage has the advantage of being locatted on a quiet waterway within the marina, just of the Main River Bure.

It is surrounded by water on 3 sides and has its own patio and sheltered decking area looking out over the water providing ample spots for fishing.

Canoeing

With access to the River Bure the best way to explore is by boat.

But even by Boat, some parts of the broads are inaccessible.

So why not bring your canoes. With a short stay visitors licence available from the Broads Authority, and with space to store the Canoes on the decking and private patio, many of our guests take to the water by Canoe.

We can assist with licences and information if necessary

There are many areas to explore via canoe and for the younger members of the family the basin in the marina provides a sheltered and secure area for them to try out a new activity

If you don't have your own canoe then why not visit the Canoeman in Wroxham
